Plyometric Conditioning Rocks For Basketball

Are you an avid basketball fan that not only loves to watch the sport but is a hardcore player as well. Are you always on the look out for new ways to improve your games. Well as any professional athlete will tell you is that if you are truly serious about getting to the next level it all starts with your physical conditioning. The truth about being in the best physical condition for your sport is that it all starts off the court.

The highly trained athletes that we all watch night after night in the NBA are just that highly trained and conditioned to grind out 82 plus games (plus if their team is good enough!) every season. Any way the point is that playing those games is not the only part of their job. The most important part of a pro players job and key to longevity in their career is the conditioning they do off the court.

When it comes to conditioning your body for a long grueling physical season like the 82 games played in the NBA. There is no better form of conditional training to push your body to the next level then plyometrics. Plyometric training or jump training as it sometimes referred to is the best form of training you can do if you are looking to build explosive speed, strength and endurance in your lower body. To get those quick and powerful moves that you need to generate on a basketball court, plyometrics should be a vital part of all your workouts. Not only wil it increase your leg speed and strength but it will push your lung capacity as well to all new levels. It’s a great workout that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in performing better in any sport not just basketball.

Reaching the skyFor the do it yourselfers that work out at home there is a fair amount of information and YouTube videos that can give you a starting point for a plyometric work out. Also for the people that work out at home if you are serious about your conditioning and enjoy working out at home I would also recommend the P90 X series of workouts from Beachbody.com. The 90X series is for those people that like to go a little more extreme, I mention it because one of those workouts is all plyometrics 8-)
